SIBU: Some 10,000 people attended the Progressive Democratic Party’s (PDP) Chinese New Year open house at Li Hua Hotel here today (Jan 23).

Members of the public from various backgrounds and races have been seen arriving as early as 8am, and their arrival was warmly welcomed by PDP president and Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

Tiong, who is also the Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister, expressed his gratitude at the great response received from the public, especially the people of Sibu.

“Two years ago, we had to deal with COVID-19, and as a result, we don’t host such a programme.

“We have only started holding this Chinese New Year open house this year, and I would like to advise everyone to always take good care of their health.

“I pray that all people have good luck and prosperity in this Year of the Rabbit,” he said when met by reporters during the event.
