Wellbest building to be launched end of Nov

KUCHING: Sarawak Wellbest Carnival 2019 organised by Sarawak Welfare Department (JKWS) will be hailed as a milestone for the launching of Wellbest centre building in Metrocity Matang.

Owned by Usahawan Mikro Kebajikan (UMK), this annual carnival will be held from Nov 27 to Dec 1 at the building compound.

In announcing this, Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has agreed to launch the event.

“The Chief Minister is expected to officiate at the Wellbest building on Nov 30 in the morning,” she said during a press conference held at the Wellbest UMK building here in Metrocity Matang yesterday.

Fatimah also said there will be booths and stalls set up by 150 selected welfare entrepreneurs to promote their products.

“We have selected 150 welfare entrepreneurs from all parts of the state to sale their products. This carnival will showcase various local goods.

“Apart from that, three successful micro entrepreneurs and six welfare entrepreneurs who have the potential to be micro entrepreneurs will receive awards and certificates by our honourable Chief Minister during the launching ceremony.

“They are those who achieve target sales over RM1,000 during the carnival and will be receiving prizes,” she said.

She also said that the Welfare Volunteer Run will be held during the carnival on Dec 1.

“We hope to achieve 3000 participants and out of this, we are targeting some 1,600 participants to be our volunteers.

Calling upon public to not miss the opportunities abound from the event, she informed that the carnival will be a fun-filled family event.

“There will also be contests and a lucky visitor could drive home with a new Axia,” Fatimah said, adding that there are more attractive prizes and activities up for grabs.
