KUCHING: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) wants Sarawakians to believe that if they choose in the next election to let Pakatan Harapan (PH) rule them, it will be the beginning of the end for Sarawak.

Its president Voon Lee Shan said when PH has power over Sarawak, they are going to amend the laws that protect the state and its people and take its resources such as oil and gas till they are all gone. “The state produces 850,000 barrels of oil per day.

Malaya takes them away and gives us back five percent only. Do you want this to continue? Do you want your petrol money to be taken by Malaya? No! No!.

Voon speaks to the crowd.

“We have lost lots of money, if we (PBK) take this oil and gas revenue back you and I could be millionaires,” he said during PBK’s first central committee dinner at Crown Towers last Sunday evening. He then made it clear to the large crowd that PBK would abide by the law to seek independence for the state. “We have the law. We are not going to take arms against Malaysia.

We are going to use the United Nations (UN) decolonisation process under UN Solution 1514, 1541,” he said. He revealed that he had engaged Judge Dr Te Whetu O Rongo of the United States of America (US) to help PBK work out how Sarawak can gain independence without bloodshed.

“Malaya has mistreated us very badly. We cannot let that happen anymore. And I assure you that one day Sabah and Sarawak will be independent. “And if Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak still wants to support Malaya, they should go and help their counterparts there because they do have a lot of problems,” he said.

Speaking at the same function, PBK deputy president Peli Aron said if Sarawakians are not careful, native customary lands will eventually disappear just like what happened to the native Americans in the USA. Peli, an Iban of Sri Aman and a lawyer by profession, said many Ibans are still poorly educated and are also losing their land. For that, PBK will work hard to get them educated and ensure their lands are protected. “We are doing this for the future generation. If we don’t, we are responsible for the destruction of the people,” he said.

Vice president Peter Asut who is from Ba’kelalan, also spoke, and he pointed out that PBK is not aligned to any party that strives to fight for a better future for the younger generations. “I am here to give my support to the people, especially to the rural communities that have been left behind. “I feel I still have some unfinished jobs. Therefore, I call upon all Sarawakians to support PBK to work on its mission.”
