KUCHING: Political observer Datuk Peter Minos is confident Gabungan Parti Sarawak will emerge victorious in the 15th general election (GE15).

With some extra last minute push as well as some luck, he said the coalition will be able to bag all 31 contested seats.

“I can see this time around, GPS will get the Stampin parliamentary seat back. GPS and its candidate Lo Khere Chiang has been putting in everything to win.

“The DAP candidate somehow seemed to slow down and take it a bit too easy. Perhaps he is too confident thus complacent.

“DAP will pay a heavy price in underestimating the GPS candidate in Stampin,” he predicted on the eve of elections on Friday (Nov 18).

Minos pointed out that GPS especially its chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has been working very hard and doing so almost non-stop day in day out.

“I wonder where the GPS leaders get such energy, perhaps it comes from the great desire to win,” he said.

He said if GPS wins all 31 seats or majority seats, it will be a cause for celebration as GPS will use the victory to do some good bargaining in parliament and with Malaya for Sarawak.

He felt this will be the case as neither Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH) or Perikatan Nasional (PN) will be able to get the minimum 112 out of 222 seats.

“To form the federal government, each will have to woo GPS and here is where GPS can get the best and the most for Sarawak. They will make a deal only if Sarawak gets the best terms, otherwise it would be a no deal,” he said.

Minos reminded Sarawakian voters to give all 31 seats to GPS as any seat lost would be a big loss to Sarawak.
