KUCHING: Political secretary to the chief minister Tan Kai wants Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong to explain the cause for the delay in upgrading works at Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan Foochow here.

Tan was at the work site yesterday and witnessed the congested traffic scenario at the intersection.

“The upgrading works of the traffic light intersection at Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan Foochow is causing severe traffic jam daily.

“Vehicles are forced to navigate very slowly for more than 3km from the junction up to Simpang Tiga,” he noted.

Tan reminded Yong that she had promised the project would be completed by mid-November.

“Apparently it has been delayed because we are now in the middle of December, so when is the actual completion date?

“As a responsible elected representative, she should inform the public of the new completion date,” Tan said.

He also reminded that the year is about to end with various celebrations such as Christmas and New Year, which will be followed by the 2020 school session and Chinese New Year. He said if the project is still not completed, it would cause massive traffic jams and put a dent on the festive mood.
