KUCHING: A political observer is concerned that by January 2024, the ringgit will drop from RM4.70 to RM5 to per USD.

Datuk Peter Minos pointed out that  would not be a good thing as the country’s imports would be more expensive than ever.

“On another note, the cost of living is higher than ever. I remember when  my wife and I went to a market recently, one kilogram of ikan kembong cost around RM16.

“Everything is expensive and my budget per week now is RM200.

“I am worried about the people in the rural areas and families with monthly income of less than RM1800 per month. It is truly tough for them,” he said this in a recent statement.

Minos added while it was easy for the people to blame various factors,  he said  something needed to be done for the wellbeing of the country.

“I just hope that by next year, things will start to improve. In the meantime, I can only hope the best for Malaysia,” he added.
