Willie Mongin, Lo Khere Chiang among GPS new faces for GE15

KUCHING: Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri has been confirmed to contest in the Santubong parliamentary seat instead of defending her Batang Sadong in the 15th general election (GE15).

Datuk Willie Mongin is set to defend his Puncak Borneo seat under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) ticket.

Two women candidates Rodiyah Sapiee and Datuk Seri Doris Brodie, who are also new faces, will be contesting in Batang Sadong and Sri Aman, respectively.

Other new faces are Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang has been nominated for Stampin parliamentary seat; Eric Tay Tze Kok for Bandar Kuching; Lidang Disen for Mas Gading; Jeffrey Phang for Miri; Mohamad Shafizan Kepli for Batang Lupar; Clarence Ting for Sibu; Richard Rapu for Betong; Roy Angau Gingkoi for Lubok Antu; Giendam Jonathan Tait for Saratok; Wong Ching Yong for Lanang; and Edwin Banta for Selangau.

GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the party is also fielding Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum to wrest back the Julau parliamentary seat; and Repok assemblyman Datuk Huang Tiong Sii to wrest back the Sarikei parliamentary seat.

He announced this after chairing a meeting and handed over the writs to the candidates at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters, Jalan Bako this morning.

Incumbents for Serian, Petra Jaya, Bintulu, Kapit, Kota Samarahan, Igan and Kanowit – Datuk Seri Richard Riot, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Datuk Rubiah Wang, Ahmad Johnie and Datuk Ago Dagang, will defend their seats.

Other than that, incumbents for Sibuti, Baram, Mukah, Hulu Rajang and Tanjung Manis – Lukanisman Awang Sauni, Datuk Anyi Ngau, Datuk Hanifah Taib, Datuk Ugak Kumbong and Ir Yusuf Abdul Wahab, have also been fielded to defend their seats.
