KUCHING: Sarawak manager Hamzah Brahim has described his team’s 2-0 Premier League win over basement side Penang at the State Stadium here today as timely.

He reckoned that the win, courtesy of a Bobby Gonzales brace in the 63rd and 84th minutes, was just the tonic the Crocs needed after their 1-2 opening match loss to Negeri Sembilan on Feb 2.

“This home win will boost the players’ motivation and give them the belief that we can continue to excel in the coming matches.

“We will also work on rectifying our weaknesses immediately. Congratulations to the boys for sticking to their tasks today,” he said.

Meanwhile, Penang head coach Ahmad Yusoff attributed their defeat to his team’s complacency after the break.

“We must always stay focused when playing away. But, in the second half, players lost focus and made mistakes. Anyway, we will bounce back and collect all three points when we take on PDRM on Feb 16,” said the Panthers coach.
