KUCHING: The PN-GPS government must figure out how to win the rakyat’s confidence and trust, said Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awg Sauni.

While it is true that the new government has no manifesto as its guideline, he believed the new ministers will perform their best to serve the rakyat.

“The new government must formulate new policies in order to restore the rakyat’s confidence. And policies should be practical and beneficial.

“Looking at the new Cabinet line-up, I can see that the prime minister is armed with those who are highly capable,” he said in a statement yesterday.

To deliver the best service to the rakyat, he urged Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to provide allocations to both the government MPs and those from the opposition.

“We will continue to fight for Sarawak rights in education, to empower young people and address the rakyat’s welfare especially in terms of rural development issues,”

He also pointed out that there was a need to table bills on political funding and anti-hopping.

“And, there must be specific policy to empower young people so that they can participate in forming development policies.

“In other words, this Cabinet must be able to perform for everyone. Don’t let the rakyat down,” he added.
