Wind rips off part of longhouse roof

The longhouse was made partly roofless by the strong wind.

MUKAH: Six doors of Randi Enteba longhouse were damaged by a strong wind that blew away the roof of the longhouse Sunday (Aug 23).

According to the fire department operations centre a distress call was received at 1.36am and two teams from Mukah and Selangau fire stations were sent to the scene.

The distance from Mukah fire station to the longhouse is 58km.

When they arrived, the teams found that the upper part of the longhouse was damaged.

The six doors in the 14-door longhouse had 26 occupants. None of them was injured in the incident.

The teams returned to their stations at 3.25am.
