KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has announced a special payment of one-and-a-half-month basic salary or a minimum of RM2,000 for Sarawak civil servants.

He made the announcement in his winding-up speech at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly sitting here yesterday, adding that the payment would be made by end of this year.

Apart from that, some 137,000 federal civil servants working in the state would also receive a one-off incentive of RM500.
“The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government appreciates the contribution and commitment of those in the state and federal public services in carrying out their duties and responsibilities professionally throughout this year.

“Thus, we decided to give this special incentive for their hard work,” he said.

“On behalf of the Sarawak government, I wish everyone Merry Christmas, Happy New Year 2023 and Gong Xi Fa Cai to all those who will be celebrating the festival,” he added.
