MIRI: A will and trust talk was successfully organised by Wishesland Miri on Sunday via the Zoom application.

The talk was presented by a professional estate planner Chew Giok Hua and senior estate planner Tan Kai Chun.

The objective of the talk was to create awareness among parents on how to ensure their special children were well taken off after they passed on.

“As we all know, every parent with special children is deeply concerned and worried about how their children will be doing after they pass on or fall sick and who will take care of them,” Chew said.

He pointed that the writing of a will would ensure that their estates would be passed down to their loved ones accordingly and also protect their special children’s welfare.

Tan explained that the special needs trust was a pre-arranged fund for the special children’s living expenses, medical bills and education funds. He said it was important for parents to create a special needs trust to ensure their special children could have continued incomes after they passed on.

Wishesland Kuching president, Chi Poh Yung said the organisation would continue to educate parents on the importance of having a will and trust.

He urged all parents of cerebral palsy children to contact the organisation as soon as possible for relevant treatment and assistance.

He also encouraged members of the public to donate money to Wishesland so that it could continue to provide treatment programmes to children.
