KUCHING: The Federation of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions Chinese Associations president, Datuk Richard Wee wishes Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who’s celebrating his birthday on Wednesday (Aug 4) good health and wisdom.

He also hopes Abang Johari will continue to be steadfast in his unwavering determination for the direction and the short-, medium- and long-term goals for Sarawak.

Speaking to New Sarawak Tribune on Tuesday (Aug 3), Wee also took the opportunity to thank Abang Johari for his continuous support for the Chinese community.

“There are so many policies and initiatives that the chief minister has implemented that are for the future development of Sarawak.

“As for the Chinese community, in continuing the legacy of the late chief minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem, Abang Johari has fulfilled and increased the annual grant for the Chinese Independent schools, allocated land for the Chinese independent schools for future development in ensuring regular incomes for the operation of the schools.

“This includes the granting of land for the Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations to have its permanent building and the creation of the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to assist the funding for all other religions in Sarawak,” he said.

“All these reflect one major important policy of the Sarawak government and that is, we are truly multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-religions. That is our proud heritage and tradition in Sarawak.

“This is the best gift that Abang Johari has given to all Sarawakians. He has made us all feel proud of being a Sarawakian by emphasising and focusing on Sarawak first,” added Wee.
