MIRI: Police have arrested a woman for allegedly threatening to harm and cause problems to her stepson over the issue of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) money.

District police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said the incident happened at 7.05pm in a house at Taman Jelita off Taman Tunku on Thursday (July 1).

At the time, the 21-year-old complainant went there to collect his personal items.

“While at the house, he asked his step-mother (suspect) regarding his EPF money amounting to RM7,000.

“All of a sudden, the suspect scolded him and slapped his face. The suspect also threatened to harm the complainant and cause problems at his workplace until he gets fired,” he said.

Investigations found that the complainant could not take the EPF money which belonged to him.

Fearing for his safety, the complainant lodged a police report.

Hakemal said a police team went to the house and arrested the 41-year-old suspect at 8.20pm.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
