
BAU: Police here arrested a woman for alleged involvement in online gambling activities at Jalan Datuk Salau on Monday.
District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the operation dubbed ‘Ops Dadu’ was carried out by the district’s CID team at 4.30pm.
The team raided the premises and arrested the 37-year-old woman who was suspected to be involved in online gambling top-up activity.
“The team managed to seize two modems, a keyboard, a computer mouse, two monitors, a central processing unit (CPU), cash, a piece of online gambling offer advertisement and a mobile phone.
“Both the arrest and accumulated evidence were taken to Bau police headquarters (IPD) for further actions,” he said.
Background checks ascertained that the woman had a preceding record under the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
Poge noted that the woman is currently remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
If convicted, the offender can be fined not less than RM5,000 and not more than RM50,000, or imprisonment not more than three years.
