Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the case, said the accident was believed to have happened around 8am but the police was only informed about it around 10.15am by the public.
Investigations found that the victim identified as Cassandra Suzi Robert Kip was driving alone and she was on her way home from work.
“It is believed that the victim’s car skid out of control before it crashed into the bushes on the left side, about 57 metres from the road.
“The impact had caused the victim to be thrown from the car, which ended up overturned in the bushes,” he said.
Paramedics from Bau Hospital found the victim’s body next to a ditch and confirmed that she died on the spot. The body was taken to Bau Hospital for an autopsy.
Alexson added that the victim’s vehicle was brought out from the bushes with a towing truck and was brought to Bau Traffic Police Division for further investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The police are also asking for witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation.
