MIRI: A woman succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital here after she was involved in a car accident near KM3 Saberkas Roundabout Flyover yesterday.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said prior to the 8.15am accident, the 26-year-old victim was heading towards the city from her home in Pujut.

Preliminary investigation found that the cause of the accident was due to slippery road conditions due to rain, causing the woman to lost control of her vehicle.

“Upon reaching the area, the vehicle skidded to the right side of the road and hit a road barrier.

“The front portion of the car was badly damaged and the victim was pinned to her seat,” he said yesterday (July 29).

Firefighters were despatched to the scene to extricate the victim. She was then taken to Miri Hospital for further treatment. However, the woman was pronounced dead by medical personnel at 10.15am.
