SARIKEI: A collision between a car and a motorcycle resulted in the death of a female rider along KM4, Jalan Repok this morning.
The accident, which happened at 8.33 am, prompted the quick dispatch of firefighters from Sarikei station, who were joined by the police, paramedics, and the Civil Defence Force (APM).
On arrival, emergency responders discovered the car overturned near a drain, with the wrecked motorcycle lying by the roadside.
Unfortunately, the rider, identified as 30-year-old Lucy Nangkai, was found inside the drain and pronounced dead by paramedics.
The team retrieved her body from the drain and handed it over to the police for transportation to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old car driver managed to extricate himself from his vehicle.
He received immediate on-site treatment for his injuries before being taken to the hospital for further treatment.
