The incident happened around 11.15am when both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the case, said the victim, identified as Tan Yi Lin from Perak, was travelling from Oya while the lorry driven by a 35-year-old man was travelling from Igan.

“Investigations found that the victim’s pick-up truck was believed to have gone out of control and swerved into the opposite lane before colliding with the lorry.

“As a result, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics,” he said.

The body was later taken to the hospital for further actions.

On the other hand, the lorry driver did not sustain any injuries in the collision.

Alexson pointed out that the impact of the crash caused the victim’s vehicle to be severely wrecked while the lorry front right part was damaged.
