Woman dies in pickup truck crash

BINTULU: A 40-year-old woman died while two others were injured following a car crash at Mile 20, Jalan Bintulu-Miri today.  

A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department said the accident happened around 2.25 pm and that firemen from Bintulu station were despatched to the scene, about 23km from the station.

Upon arriving, the team confirmed the crash and found an overturned pickup truck by the roadside.

One of the victims identified as Haniza Raini, who suffered severe injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Her body was handed over to the police to be taken to Bintulu Hospital for post-mortem.

The other two victims – a man and a woman – suffered injuries to their faces, a broken right arm and a broken left leg. Both were taken to the hospital for immediate treatment.
