SIBU: A woman was killed while her two passengers were severely injured after their car fell into a ditch at Jalan Stabau yesterday morning.

In the 11am accident, the victim, 24-year-old Christina Umie Jalin, was driving when she lost control of her car — the car hit a tree before falling into a ditch.

Christina passed away at the scene of the accident, while her two passengers — her younger sister who is in her 20s and her one-year-nine-month-old son — were injured.

“The two surviving passengers were rushed to Sibu Hospital for treatment,” said Sibu Fire and Rescue Department acting chief Wan Kamarudin Wan Ahmad. when contacted.

Meanwhile, Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit also confirmed the accident.

“We are still investigating the accident and more information will follow later,” he said.

He said the victim was believed to have been travelling from Durin to Sibu when the tragedy struck.
