BINTULU: A 32-year-old woman driver this morning escaped in the nick of time after her four-wheel drive vehicle caught fire.
She was at the junction of Pekan Baru Tatau when she noticed smoke coming out from the engine of her vehicle. She quickly stopped her car by the roadside and got out.
Tatau Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Nazari Harun said after the fire station received an emergency call on the incident at 6.16am, seven firemen led by Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent Bonnie Sera rushed to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the firemen found that 90 per cent of the vehicle had been destroyed.
“However, no casualties were reported in this incident.
“Firemen extinguished the fire using a stream hose and water from the tank of the fire engine,” he said.
The firemen managed to control the fire at 6.30am, Nazari added.
