KUCHING: A former senior account executive was charged with two counts of breach of trust involving RM59,000 belonging to a construction engineering company.

Siau, 53, pleaded not guilty after the charge sheet was read before Judge Afidah Abdul Rahman.

She was accused of breaching trust concerning the sums of RM5,500 on April 25 and RM53,500 on May 30 based on both charges.

The accused was therefore charged under Section 408 of the Penal Code, which stipulates that a conviction carries a penalty of a fine, whipping, and a minimum prison sentence of one year and up to a maximum of 14 years.

After the guilty plea was recorded, the court allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM5,000 with one local surety for each charge.

Afidah set the date of re-mention for case management on next February 1.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Aiman Mutallib Mohamad Shariff while the accused was represented by lawyer Louis Jarau.
