KUCHING: Sibu police have brought in a female witness for questioning regarding the case where a man was found dead with 12 bricks tied to his neck and waist at a private jetty in Jalan Lanang on Oct 14.

State Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar, when contacted yesterday, said that the four suspects, all foreigners, fled Sibu immediately after the incident.

“We have strong reasons to believe that they may have returned to their country. There are witnesses who saw the fight but did not see the suspects dumping the victim overboard.

“We also believe that the fight took place onboard a fishing vessel that was docked in Belawai on Oct 9,” he added.

The case has been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The man was found by an angler after he was entangled in a fishing net casted by the angler.

No documents were found on the man who was only clad in a pair of trousers.
