SIBU: A woman will have to spend the next four months in prison as she was unable to pay the RM5,000 fine imposed by the Magistrates’ Court here on Friday (Aug 19) for prostitution.

Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar fined the 33-year-old from Julau RM5,000, in default four months’ imprisonment, after she pleaded guilty.
She was charged with committing the act at a hotel room in Jalan Market.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Ali Hussain told the court that on Aug 17 at about 2.15pm, a police team conducted a raid on a hotel room.

Police found the accused naked and a man inside the room.

They also seized condoms and cash amounting to RM60 as evidence.

The man told police that when he reached the hotel, the accused offered him a sexual service for a fee of RM100.

He agreed and had paid RM60 in advance.
