BAU: Sarawak police scored another success against illegal gambling when they picked up a suspect in the ongoing operation codenamed ‘Op Dadu’ for online gambling activities.

In the latest raid on Monday (May 23), a 47-year-old woman was arrested at a convenience store in Jambusan town around 12.30pm for running an online gambling operation.

Police were tipped off by the public that an online gambling sales activity was being carried out in the premises.

Bau OCPD DSP Poge Nyaon said police seized a phone, a SIM card and a sum of cash from the suspect.

The suspect, who did not have any past record, was taken to the police station for questioning.

The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953, which carries for a fine of up to RM50,000 or a jail term up to three years, upon conviction.

Last Saturday (May 21), police arrested two women aged 18 and 19 years for a similar offence in Tondong area. The next day (May 22), another suspect, a 41-year-old man, was detained for the same offence in Kampung Serasot.
