Woman loses items worth RM1505 in snatch theft

SIBU: A 28-year-old woman became a victim of snatch thief when a man snatched her handbag when she opened the door of her rented house.

Sibu District Police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, said when the victim was opening the door, suddenly a man came from behind to grab her handbag.

“The victim tried to hold on to her handbag which cause her to fall.  She had minor injuries on her right knee, left ankle, and scratches on the left palm.

“The suspect then ran away with a motorcycle without plat number (Honda Wave). The estimated loss was RM1505, “ he said.

Ringgit said this when contacted by reporters yesterday.

He said that based on the D7 criminals album recognition, the unemployed male suspect aged 25-year-old had been identified.

“Today (19th February) at 12.05am, at Tan Sri Road, Insp Baharuddin led the Sibu Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) to arrest a suspect (man) involved in the case which caused injuring during robbery; investigation is under section 394 of the Penal Code.

“The outcome of the interrogation was that the suspect had admitted to commit the crime alone because of he had no money.”

He said the goods belonging to the victims were thrown at the roadside in Rejang Park road and have not been found and believed to have been taken by the people who saw the handbag because the area is an open area and a residential housing.
