KUCHING:  A businesswoman was slightly hurt after her handbag, containing her personal and company items, was snatched Tuesday morning.

The victim, 53, from Jalan Chawan, was walking alone at 11.30am behind the Sarawak Plaza parking area when a motorcyclist rode by and grabbed her handbag, causing abrasions to her arm.

She lost RM3,000, some foreign currencies in Singapore dollars, China RMB, Thai Baht, bank card, mobile phone, identity card, driving licence and blood donation card, all of which belonged to her.

However, she could not remember the exact amount of the foreign currencies that she lost.

Items lost that belonged to her company were a cheque and RM1,000 in cash.

The victim told police in her report that there was no plate number at the back of the motorcycle.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a self-employed man, 60, lodged a police report that his house in Taman Sepakat Jaya, Demak Laut, Jalan Bako was broken into on Monday night.

He discovered the forced entry when he reached home at 10.20pm.

He said the burglars broke into his house through the back door.

His house was ransacked and missing were some pieces of gold jewellery valued at RM4,000 belonging to members of his family.

Police are investigating both cases.
