KUCHING: A woman was arrested by police for possessing drugs worth RM1,002 on Thursday.
Kuching district deputy police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said that the arrest took place at 11.45am at Wisma Unaco.
A team from Kuching Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) arrested the 22-year-old woman based on information obtained.
“During inspection, the woman surrendered a brown bag containing drugs suspected to be syabu, weighing 6.68g with a value of RM1,002.
“Investigations also revealed that she had received her supply via bank-in from an unidentified dealer, who placed the stash in a location for collection,” he said in a statement.
He added that the woman, who has a past record involving substance abuse, tested positive for methamphetamine.
Merbin noted that the woman will be charged in court on July 3.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a jail term of not less than two years and not more than five years, and whipping with not less than three strokes and not more than nine strokes.
