KOTA SAMARAHAN: A woman and two children survived a horrific road collision but sustained serious injuries.

A spokesperson from the State Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (Bomba) said an emergency call was received at 1.49pm (Dec 2) that there was a road accident at Jalan Meranek, Kota Samarahan.

The operations centre dispatched a rescue team from Kota Samarahan Bomba station to the incident location. It added that there were two vehicles involve in the accident.

“The operations commander said that a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) and a pickup vehicle have collided and there were six victims at the scene.

“In the MPV, a woman (driver) and two children (male and female) sustained serious injuries and the rescue team had to use a special tool to extricate them from the vehicle.

“The MPV was damaged badly and was in a ditch while the pickup was damaged only to one of the tyres. All three victims in the pickup did not sustain any injuries,” said the spokesperson.

It added that the woman (MPV driver) suffered a broken right hand, the girl suffered a broken right leg and the boy only sustained injury to his left hand.

All of the victims from the MPV were transported to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.

The operations ended at 3.10pm.
