KUCHING: Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugan lauded the role of women in ensuring stability in local politics.
“Women play a very important role in the political landscape and are the backbone of local, state and national political stability,” he said.
He said this when officiating at a dialogue session for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Murum Women wing at Dewan Serbaguna Apau Koyan, Murum last Friday.
Chukpai said among the activities held during the session were explanations and dialogues on the initiatives by the GPS state government as well as various forms of assistance made available by the state government and business opportunities for the local dwellers.
The assemblyman thanked all participants and organising team for their commitment towards the programme.
“My appreciation also goes to Sungai Asap district office administrative officer, Kuba Lusat, councillors, community leaders, women leaders and all GPS component parties.
“It is hoped that all information and new knowledge obtained at the dialogue session will benefit all,” he said.
Also present during the session were political secretaries to the Chief Minister, Michael Mujan Lihan, Beatrice Kedoh and Jenny Bangga.
