The Kolej Laila Taib project in progress.

MUKAH: Work on the Kolej Laila Taib (KLT) project here is progressing well since construction began in the second half of last year.

New Sarawak Tribune today (March 23) discovered that two main buildings were being built – the administration block and the multipurpose hall.

Head of State Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony here about five years ago.

The project is located adjacent to Politeknik Mukah, at an access road about 1km from Jalan Mukah-Oya and some 10km from town.

Based on the signboard, the client is Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation), while the turnkey contractor is Kuching-based Juara Cahya Sarawak Sdn Bhd, and the architect is F Wee Architect, Kuching.

The project’s civil and soil (C&S) engineer is Perunding Iskfit, Kuching, while Perunding CHL Sdn Bhd, Kuching is the mechanical and electrical engineer, and Jurukur Bahan Tema Sdn Bhd, Kuching is the quantity surveyor.

Located at the end of the same access road 1.7km away is Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Mukah Campus, and about 500 metres down the access road are the ongoing Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) and GiatMara projects.
