KUCHING: Constituents are urged to cooperate with frontliners in containing the Covid-19 outbreak in Saratok.
Its MP Ali Biju said the recent case recorded in the constituency came a shock to the residents as it marked the first infection since the start of the pandemic last year.
“Since the movement control order (MCO) which started from March 18, 2020, Saratok residents have managed to maintain the place as a green zone with zero Covid-19 cases.
“Yesterday, we were shocked by the first Covid-19 case recorded in Saratok.
“However, the situation is still under control and I will always be in touch to monitor the situation from time to time,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Jan 13).
Ali, who is Energy and Natural Resources Deputy Minister, also thanked the frontline staff who were tasked to contain the infection in the constituency and ensure the safety of the residents.
“To the people of Saratok, together we must help our frontliners by taking precautions and always comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the National Security Council (NSC) & Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
“Always follow the instructions from our frontliners because they are our wall of defence to ensure the safety of Saratok citizens.
“Finally, together we stand shoulder to shoulder and remain calm in the face of these challenges and trials,” he said.
