The 4WD vehicle seen crashed into a ditch along KM92, Jalan Miri-Bintulu on Sunday.

MIRI: A foreign worker was killed while another sustained injuries after their four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle got out of control and crashed into a ditch along KM92, Jalan Miri-Bintulu last Sunday (Dec 20).

District deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said the incident happened around 2pm when the driver, who is a supervisor for a concrete company, was driving the worker back to his home.

The worker has been identified as Rio Fenando, 19, who was working at an oil palm plantation.

“The incident happened when they were travelling from Bintulu to the worker’s home. The vehicle is said to have lost control and crashed into a ditch by the roadside,” he told.

As a result of the crash, the worker, who was a back-seat passenger was pronounced dead by paramedics while the driver only sustained minor injuries.

Sabri added that the body was taken to the hospital for further actions and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
