KUCHING: The Patient Advocacy Coalition, a collaboration of various non-profit organisations (NGOs) operating under the banner of ‘Suara Kita’ recently conducted a two-day workshop themed ‘Understanding How Medication Gets to Patients’.

Held from Aug 24 to 25, the workshop organised by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) and supported by Roche Malaysia, was aimed at shedding light on the process of introducing new drugs into Malaysia.

According to a statement, the workshop featured senior officers from the Ministry of Health who provided an in-depth understanding of the regulatory system and legislation.

They also delved into the intricacies of pharmaceutical product registration, highlighting the pivotal role of MaHTAS (Malaysian Health Technology Assessment Section) in this process.

“We look forward to more engagement and collaboration with the ministry to improve patient involvement and feedback to the authorities,” NCSM said.

Participants included representatives from the Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Kuching (SCAN), Haemophilia Society Malaysia (HSM), National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) and Colorectal Cancer Survivorship Society Malaysia (CORUM).
