MUKAH: Ten cooperative board members from Politeknik Mukah (PMU) attended a strategic development plan workshop at a leading hotel here recently.

The two-day (July 6-7) programme was organised by the Malaysian Cooperatives Institute (IKM) Sarawak Zone, an agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives.

The organiser’s spokesman said the main purpose of workshop was to make preparation for long-term strategic plans, while helping cooperatives in facing the current business situation during the movement restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said it was also to help cooperatives review their previous management and operation in line with the objectives of forming a cooperative.

“PMU was one of those selected in the Million Ringgit Coop League (Miricle), one of the initiatives of IKM in helping small and medium cluster cooperatives with development potential in accordance with plan,” he said.

According to him, in this programme, IKM Sarawak Zone would also help cooperatives involved to add value to their business activities.

He added IKM Sarawak Zone hoped the contents of the programme would help cooperatives board members and management in organising activities that had and would be planned successfully.

He said the institute also took monitoring measures to help avoid cooperative business from the risk of incurring losses.

The programme facilitators were Frank Meol and IKM Sarawak Zone senior lecturer Mohamad Suandi Mortadza.
