KUCHING: The ‘Advancing Racial Cohesion and Harmony (ARCH) Unity Lab Workshop’ is a comprehensive initiative to help achieve the goals of the National Unity Blueprint 2021 to 2030.

Datuk Aloysius J Dris, chief executive officer of Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) that runs the workshop pointed out that the ARCH project came about soon after the unity blueprint was announced by the Ministry of National Unity.

“That was how it began — a move towards the betterment of unity in the state,” said Aloysius, who recalled that since YPS’ establishment in 1994, its programmes and activities have evolved and constantly redesigned to stay relevant.

“For this, we are grateful for the support from our key players as it has enabled us to carry out many activities for the people,” he said during the opening of ARCH Unity Lab Workshop for Southern Region (Kota Samarahan and Bau) at Pullman Hotel today (July 25).

“So far, we have organised workshops across Sarawak. People have responded positively to them.”

To the young people taking part in the workshop, Aloysius urged them to voice out their opinions.

He said to form a dynamic, competitive, resilient and visionary young generation, it was important to be a group that is not only economically and educationally advanced but also become citizens who have high moral values.

“Unity and harmony must always be maintained and cherished. All efforts to build and sustain unity in Malaysia, especially in Sarawak, must be appreciated and practised by all citizens.

“Therefore, it is hoped that participants of this workshop can contribute to the building of a better Malaysia,” he said.
