KUCHING: Unhappy with the poor road conditions in their areas, faded signboards and smelly drains, residents and the businesss community of Kota Sentosa opted to approach a councillor of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Wilfred Yap directly.

After he was approached, Yap went to the ground immediately to look at the sources of grievances before reporting them to the council.

Contacted by New Sarawak Tribune, Yap said he was glad that the MPP engineering department which was in charge of road maintenance responded fast to the complaints.

It began its road maintenance work yesterday; the road maintenance was under the Morris fund.

On the smelly blocked drains, Yap said they were located near the main traffic lights.

After a discussion yesterday with the authority concerned, Yap found that two manholes which were blocked had prevented water from flowing out.

He said the authority would decide how best to solve the issue.

Yap assured that he would continue to follow up and monitor the clearing, improvement, resurfacing and repainting work on all the roads and drains in the bazaar until the work was completed to the satisfaction of the residents and business community in Kota Sentosa.
