YaPEIM sets aside RM1m for low-income households

KUCHING: The Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM) has allocated RM1 million in donations to be distributed in Sarawak.

Its chairman Datuk Mohd Redza Abdul Wahid said it also distributed RM500,000 in donations through the YaPEIM Food Bank Programme.

“This programme is made possible through the cooperation of various other agencies under the auspices of the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) to enable more recipients from the target group to receive the benefit.

“The main objective of implementing this programme is to expand the distribution to more groups that need to be cared for and low-income households,” he said here today.

He had earlier officiated at the Qaseh Kami Inspiration Programme, Food Bank YaPEIM Disaster and Community Contribution at Sarawak General Hospital.

Also present were Senior Director of the Socio -Economic Development and Charity Division of Jariah YaPEIM, Dr Mohd Hafiz Fauzi, and the Deputy Medical Director of Sarawak General Hospital, Dr Hayati Ja’afar.

“The food bank programme not only provides basic necessities such as food and necessities, but at the same time also helps build and empower entrepreneurs.

“Apart from charity, YaPEIM is also committed to helping the community through social and business activities, especially in the Ar-Rahnu service which provides loan facilities for various productive purposes such as education and business,” he added.
