Yayasan OBYU donates 10 computers

Kuching: Yayasan OBYU presented 10 units of desktop computer and webcams to Peryatim Sibu here today (Dec 15).

According to its chairman of the Board of Trustees, Datuk Dr Hatta Solhee, the new computers will be used by the children of the orphanage for online classes and learning.

“One of the focus areas of Yayasan OBYU is to support education. With the current pandemic, the need to have adequate facilities such as computers is more important to enable the children to keep up with their studies, be it online or acquiring knowledge related to their school works,” said Dr Hatta.

Yayasan OBYU, the corporate responsibility and philanthropic vehicle of OBYU Group contributions would benefit 64 children currently living in the orphanage in Sibu.

Peryatim chief executive office Ustaz Haji Mohamad Salleh Haji Hamdin expressed his thankfulness to corporate bodies and private sector for their caring attitude towards the young orphans.

“Being young, we need to expose the minds of the children to more knowledge and opportunity,” said Ustaz Haji Mohamad.

The presentation of computers and webcams was held after Yayasan OBYU board meeting in Kuching.

Established in 2018, Yayasan OBYU supports religious causes, provides social and community support and promotes the advancement of education.

Recent contributions include RM1 million to the Sarawak Disaster Management Fund to fight the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, construction of 720-student capacity examination hall in Unimas and a new school block at SK Abang Ali in Sibu. In the planning is development of a mosque at Eco Ardence, Setia Alam, Selangor with a capacity for 3,850 Jemaah.
