MIRI: Several supermarkets and wet markets in this district are imposing social distancing measures as the nation enters the second phase of the movement control order (MCO), said mayor Adam Yii.

“They are also taking proactive precautionary measures such as checking their customers’ body temperatures before allowing them to enter the premises,” he added.

He said hand sanitisers were also made available to customers.

Some grocery stores and banks have also put social distancing stickers on the floor to ensure customers keep their adequate (one metre) distance from each other.

Yii said he was happy with the compliance level shown by supermarkets and traders.

“We still have plenty of room for improvement.

“Our enforcement officers from the health department unit will regularly carry out inspections to ensure that they follow and adhere to the MCO,” Yii added.

On Saturday, during his visit to Tamu Muhibbah Miri at Jalan Padang here, the mayor reminded the traders to comply with the MCO.
