KUALA LUMPUR: “Whenever I have time, I would savour authentic Malaysian food in Nasi Kandar Pelita in Chennai and have been a regular customer there all this while,” says India’s musical prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram, known as the Mini Maestro.

The-13-year-old piano prodigy from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, who staged his maiden performance in Malaysia during The SPB Live In Concert-Illaya Nila last Saturday (Aug 31), said he always loved the Malaysian noodles.

“I used to eat Malaysian food in Chennai and I favour the Malaysian cuisine,” he told reporters after the concert when asked on what he liked most about Malaysia. The Nasi Kandar Pelita restaurant is among the first to venture into Chennai more than a decade ago, offering various authentic Malaysian cuisines that have attracted many well-known Indian movie stars.

The outlet located strategically at T. Nagar, Chennai, a shopping district for jewellery and textiles, offers Malaysian food like murtabak, satay, ais kacang and mee goreng and others.

Talking on his future plans, Lydian, a student of AR Rahman’s music academy, said he is currently composing music for a children fantasy film titled ‘Barroz’ directed by Malayalee superstar MohanLal.

“Hopefully I could release my composition for the film next year,” said the full-time musician who undertakes home-schooling in Chennai.

Lydian, who shot to fame after winning ‘The World’s Best’ global talent contest last March, taking home the grand prize of $1 million (RM4.2 million), said he was touched by the warm reception showed by his fans in Malaysia at the concert attended by some 3,000 people.

The prodigy, who is the son of Varshan Sathish, a Chennai based musician and music composer said it was a great honour to be in Kuala Lumpur and share the stage with legendary Indian playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam.

The concert, organised by Raaghav Production with the support of Malik Streams Corporation Sdn Bhd, took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, from 3pm to 7pm.  – Bernama
