LUNDU: The younger generation must continue to preserve their old customs and cultures so that they would not disappear with the development of technology.

Tanjong Datu assemblyman, Azizul Annuar Pehin Sri Adenan, who pointed this out, added that old customs could be preserved through the Kumang Dayung and Keling Pogan Gawai competition.

“Because we in Sarawak have many mixed marriages such as Malays married to Ibans and Ibans married to Chinese, all of us can live in harmony for so long,” he said during the Kumang Dayung and Keling Pogan Gawai Competition Dinner for Lundu 2022 at Lundu Chinese Hall yesterday.

The event was organised by Rukun Tertangga Batang Kayan (KRT) in collaboration with N3 Tanjong Datu Service Centre and Lundu Beauty Pageantry Ediso.

The Dayung Sangon Category was won by Maya Muyang while the Dayung Bidayuh was won by Felicia Dorem and Johan Keling Pogan by Larry Walter Brauh.
