KUCHING: The youth are the main machinery to realise the goals and vision of national development.

In stating this, Deputy Resident of Kuching Division Mackos Sibong said that many recognitions are given by the government as incentives to encourage the participation of the youth to engage in beneficial programmes.

“The Land of the Hornbills is a lucky state because many of its young generations are brave and brilliant in the eyes of the world, thus making the name of Malaysia and Sarawak proud.

“Therefore, the National Youth Day programme held here can be a platform to foster the spirit of patriotism among the youth,” he said.

He said this at the closing ceremony of the National Youth Day Kuching Division Level 2022 at Stadium Perpaduan Kuching on Saturday (Sept 24).

Adding on, he said that such programmes are also able to encourage the youth to contribute in ensuring that the national development agenda runs smoothly.

He added that this youth day celebration is a form of recognition for the youth who had contributed a lot to the development of the country.

“These young people have done a lot of good activities that contribute to the development of religion, society and the country.

“That is why I think that the theme this year ‘this is our time’ is appropriate,” he said.

For the record, the implementation of the said programme has the concept of a mini carnival based on six parts to bring the youth closer in understanding human capital development.

It also introduces them to the active lifestyle, having a good career, and talks on developing oneself in various approaches through creativity, innovation and digitalisation.
