KUCHING: A local youth was today fined RM1,500 or jailed one month in default by the Magistrate’s Court here. This was after he pleaded guilty splattering the fence of a 34-year-old man’s house using grey-white paint.

The accused Eirzan, 26, pleaded guilty to the charge which was read out by an interpreter in front of Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.

According to the charge sheet, he was alleged to have treacherously damaged the fence of the house belonging to the victim Tan Sheng, 34, causing a loss of RM200.

It was said that the accused committed the act at Taman Matang Jaya PH23, Jalan Matang, here, around 4pm, last July 10.

With this, he was charged with committing acts of mischief under Section 427 of the Penal Code. He could be jailed a minimum of one year but a maximum of five years, or fined or both upon conviction.

Based on the facts of the case, the complainant filed a police report because his house was locked by an unknown person.

Following this, the victim also received a phone call from his neighbour that his house had been splattered with grey-white paint.

When the complainant arrived home, he found that the stairs of his house had been splashed and he also received a notice for him to settle the debt.

However, the victim never owed anything to anyone and filed a police report for further action.

On June 18, the police from the IPD Padawan Criminal Investigation Department managed to arrest the suspect at the Kota Samarahan police station.

As a result of the investigation, it was found that he had splashed paint on the railing of the victim’s house.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
