KUCHING: Sarawak is on track towards digital economy through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the development process.

Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports cum Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) treasurer Datuk Snowdan Lawan noted that more youths are being involved in the development process which augured well for the state.

“I am confident that by involving youths in technological infrastructure, they can develop the state as well as lifting the image of Sarawak to the global stage.

“In the technology field, we already have SarawakPay and we have the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) to promote our technological capability,” he said.

The growing number of artificial intelligence is heavily influenced by the thinking and ideas of youths who are more adept to the use of technology in daily life, he said at a Youth Summit 2021 programme held at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) today.

“Technology has changed our lives especially in this time such as how we buy our essentials, food and also the way we work using multi-media platforms.

“This indirectly opens up new opportunity for  works, especially for youths in food delivery services,” said Snowdan.

He noted that the programme emphasised in empowering youths in various roles for Sarawak to achieve developed state status by 2030.

“In this programme, youths will meet with figures or icons and share their views and experiences on how to be successful at a young age.

“This will enable the youths to build on the experiences and strive to be successful themselves,” he said.
