SIBU: The Sarawak Youth Member of Parliament has expressed strong support for the revival of the National Service Training Programme (PKLN).

Adzim Rahman said that the PKLN programme has been an integral part of our great nation’s history and has played a significant role in shaping generations.

“It has provided my generation with an opportunity to learn valuable life skills and imbibe the spirit of volunteerism, transcending religious, cultural, and ethnic boundaries,” he said in a press statement today.

However, he lamented its repeal by the former Youth and Sports Minister, Syed Saddiq, in 2018 as a dark chapter in history.

The revival of the PKLN would address several pressing issues facing our youth today, he said, adding that it is crucial to equip the youth with the necessary skills, values, and experience to successfully navigate the thick of these challenges.

“My hope for the programme’s revival is not merely focused on physical fitness and political literacy but also on mental and emotional resilience, thus promoting a sense of ownership and responsibility towards our country,” Adzim added.
