BINTULU: The youth reflect the hopes and future of the country and are the foundation of a country or state’s progress.

Samalaju assemblyman Majang Renggi said it is the responsibility of the youth to further enhance their efforts and achievements in their respective fields whether in education, sports, agriculture, product production and so on.

He added that the involvement of youth as a catalyst for change in the state’s transformation process is very important.

“This is because the group involved is an important element in the development efforts of the country and the state, in addition to being a proactive and dynamic ‘stakeholder’ to determine the direction of the nation and country.

“This change and migration is a must in the quest for a developed, competitive and dynamic country or state.

“The role of youth today is not only to succeed in their careers but also to strive in developing the state and the country towards progress and glory in our own mold in line with the vision of the state achieving a developed status by 2030,” he said when officiating at a ‘program santai’ with Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Ngan Youth Samalaju and townhall session at one of the hotels here yesterday.

At the same time, Majang called for the active participation of youth in organisations or non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as a platform to cultivate the leadership values ​​of the younger generation.

This, he said, is to train the youth to understand the meaning of struggles and cultivate the spirit of working together to achieve the desired goals.

Earlier, PRS Samalaju Youth Exco, Sam Tugau hoped that the youth in the area would work together and ensure that the continuity of development can be enjoyed together.

Youth and Sports Assistant Minister cum PRS Youth chief and Balai Ringin assemblyman Datuk Snowdan Lawan was present to officiate at the programme.

Political secretaries to the chief minister Edwin Banta, Charles Nissom and Soo Li Ching were also present.
