KUCHING: A youth suffered a broken left leg and internal injuries following a two-vehicle collision along Jalan Song here on Friday (Feb 4).

The incident, involving a car and a pickup truck, happened around 9.15pm near Tabuan Heigh Phase when both vehicles were moving in opposite directions.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu when contacted, said the car driven by the 19-year-old victim that was moving towards Tabuan Laru from Jalan Tun Jugah was believed to have gone out of control and swerved into the opposite lane.

As a result, his car collided with a pickup truck that was moving towards Vivacity Mall from Tabuan Heights.

“The impact had caused the victim to suffer serious injuries – a broken left leg and internal injuries to the abdomen.

“The victim was quickly brought to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for immediate treatment,” he said.

Meanwhile, the pickup driver and his passenger, both aged 24, did not suffer any injuries during the accident.

He pointed out that the collision left both vehicles’ front parts severely damaged.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The vehicles’ front parts were heavily damaged following a collision at Jalan Song.
