KUCHING: Young entrepreneurs are encouraged venture into the food manufacturing business, which is one of the brightest and easiest to grow big.

International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminals and Entrepreneur Development (Mintred) Assistant Minister Datuk Naroden Majais made the call when officiating at the opening of Gigit Rangup Sdn Bhd (GRC) at Metrocity in Matang today.

“Young entrepreneurs in Sarawak need to venture into the field of food manufacturing because the demand is so wide and bright.

“While we are well aware the country is facing a Covid-19 pandemic, human demand for food is increasing. People may not be able to work but they still need food to survive,” he said.

Naroden added that the state government provided assistance to help young entrepreneurs such as the Go Digital that has a grant with a maximum of RM20,000.

“We are not only targeting manufacturers like GRC but also stockists who help in product marketing.

“They are eligible to apply for grants to make it easier for them to make promotions to their respective agents,” he explained.

Apart from that, Naroden said, Sarawak also has Technical and Vocational Entrepreneur (USTEV) assistance amounting to RM20,000 to make it easier for them to buy fecilities, such as ovens, machinery, computer systems and so on.

“Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, I’ve seen a lot of young entrepreneurs emerge into business field.

“When they start their own business, they grow faster and this may be because they are more educated, talented and have a high spirit, including being able to use new platforms,” said Naroden.
